Femicide: A Well-Known Term In Italy

Femicide: A Well-Known Term In Italy

Well, I'm sure you've heard about the term "femicide", either online, on the news or on the TV.

If you don't, it literally means "the killing of a woman or a girl by a man and on account of her gender".

You must know that in Italy, only in 2023, either their ex-boyfriends killed 116 women or by their ex-husbands.

And some people dare idolising these men, complimenting them on social media.

For example, when Giulia Cecchettin, an Italian citizen, got killed by Filippo Turetta on November 2023, some guys started saying atrocious things under videos online that talked about this poor girl, and how right the guy was to kill her.

How could/can they just think of something so evil?

I mean, sometimes I question myself: how were these beings raised? Because their behaviour surely isn't human.

These femicides only keep growing, always getting more and more cruel, even though not as cruel as Junko Furuta's femicide. Let me explain the story of her murder.

The Disappearence

1989, Japan; Junko Furuta is just a 17-year-old girl who lived normally, when one day, two teenage guys, Hiroshi Miyano and Shinji Minato, follow her while she was riding her bike, knocking her off it. Miyano apologised to her and offered her a walk to her house, but actually, he ordered her to follow him without a word, to a hotel, where he afterwards raped her. He called his other friends, Minato, Jo Ogura and Yasushi Watanabe, proud of himself. His friends ordered him to keep her captive, a new thing for the group since they released the women they assaulted. They took her to Minato's house, threatening to kill her parents if she tried to escape and they all raped her.

Junko's "New Life"

Her parents reported her disappearence to the Japanese police, so the guys made her call her mum to convince her she was fine, and the police interrupted their investigation. The guys then called two other boys, and they all got drugged with cough pills. Junko tried to escape, but the guys stopped her and raped her in group. She was raped more than 400 times, and the guys forced her to do horrendous things, such as masturbate and dance naked in front of them and they forced her to inhalate nitro thinner, toxic for human beings.

The Murder and The Guys' Arrest

Miyano then killed her by burning her body due to an anger attack, and he buried her body in a suitcase, hiding it. The group then got arrested for the murder of a woman and a kid, even though Miyano confessed them the atrocious things they did to Junko.

Did her story make your skin crawl? Because it did to me.

When I read about these horrific femicides the first time, I was literally crying and sobbing.

I mean, imagine if something like this happened to someone you know.

Wouldn't it be dreadful? Knowing that someone you know got killed by a piece of shit we call man?

And I think that there should be a right to murder these men when they do something like this.

Overall, women fight against these femicides, but our countries literally don't give a shit and let it happen.

But we'll keep fighting until they realise what a big mistake they're making.

That's all I had to say for today.

Have a good day/afternoon/evening/night!
