Child Marriage: Human Trafficking
Child Marriage: Human Trafficking
I'm sure you've heard of "child marriage" before, and it's basically the wedding between a kid and an adult/another kid.
These marriages happened for many, insane reasons:
POVERTY - Families who have nothing often literally sell their children (often female ones) to rich and powerful men, who, in exchange, give money to them, saving them from bankruptcy.
DOWRIES - Little boys are often forced to marry girls for the dowry, a gift given from the bride, in diamonds, gold, money or jewels.
CULTURAL/RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS - In some places like Pakistan and Afghanistan, child marriages among girls are a family tradition they’d have to follow to not get killed since a refusal to marriage meant great dishonour to the family.
SOCIAL PRESSURE - In some Christian families, if the daughter (still a teen) accidentally got pregnant, she and the father of the child in her womb would have to get married before the kid’s birth since pregnancy before marriage it’s still viewed as a sin, and they cannot get an abortion.
«What Problems Does Child Marriage Bring?»
Child marriage, to girls, brings health problems due to getting raped by these disgusting men, and by an early pregnancy/childbirth, considered traumatic among teen mums.
In boys, it brings financial problems since they have to provide for their wives, leading to child labour.
To sum up, child marriage is a violation of the human rights, being called human trafficking, an utterly nauseating “tradition” that has to stop.
This was all for today’s post.
Have a good day/afternoon/evening/night!
