Eating Disorders, What They are and Body Image
Eating Disorders, What They are and Body Image
Eating disorders are a very common yet sensitive thing among teenagers, and they can often have an emotional impact in them.
People have eating disorders because of their body image being not their liking.
But that's why I'm here!
To show you, or rather, to tell you that you're stunning!
«What are Eating Disorders?»
An eating disorder is a mental disorder that makes the person who has it be obsessed with her/his weight, body shape and how my she/he eats.
An eating disorder doesn't always mean eating less, but it also means eating too much.
There are various eating disorders, which I'll explain to you one by one.
Anorexia Nervosa (AN) - Anorexia Nervosa, known as anorexia, is an eating disorder where people don't assume enough calories in one day by not eating enough food or at all, doing too much physical exercise, taking laxatives and making themselves sick (vomiting).
A person is called anorexic when her/his BMI is lower than 17.5.
Don't be afraid, because, even if it'd take some time, you can heal by going to a talking therapy and having a doctor who'll supervise the weight you gain (which is totally fine)!
Bulimia Nervosa (BN) - Bulimia Nervosa, also known as bulimia, is an eating disorder that, unlike anorexia, is characterised by binge eating, but then the person affected by it expels the food by vomiting or by doing a lot of exercise (too much), or by taking a lot of diuretics.
Bulimia is more dangerous than anorexia because vomiting too much can lead to a gastrointestinal damage, and taking many diuretics will cause a kidney damage.
However, you can heal by this disorder too! As for anorexia, you can go to a talk therapy, or be hospitalised, so you can be in a totally good health!
Binge Eating Disorder (BED) - Binge Eating Disorder involves many episodes of overeating, where people can't stop eating, even if they're full, and they can eat large amounts of food in a very short period, and they often feel out of control. They simply can't control what they eat.
You can heal from this disorder too, by following a dietician's diet (which isn't eating nothing at all), or talking to a therapist too, who'll surely help you with all this.
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) - Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder is a feeding or eating disorder, and it's dangerous because people affected by this disorder may feed their children like they feed themselves. They eat very small amounts of food, thinking that their eating habits are healthy, but they're not.
It can affect their lifestyle, and even their mental state.
It's important to get help, before the disorder escalates to a very dangerous level.
Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder (OSFED) - It's a disorder characterised by many but not all the characteristics of another eating disorder (for example AN, BN and BED).
Psychological treatment is very important to heal from OSFED.
Pica Behaviour (PB) - Pica behaviour is an eating disorder that leads to eating things not considered food, so, not healthy for our body. It's different from the kids who maybe eat, for example, grass out of curiosity: Pica makes people consciously eating that thing, like, as I said, grass.
They know it's unhealthy, but they can't help it.
You can heal from this disorder thanks to therapy and to a doctor, who-ll give you the right advice to heal from PB.
In conclusion, to heal from eating disorders, therapy is important.
«But How Do I Know What My Body Type Is?»
Well, it's pretty simple!
There are five main body types: hourglass, apple, rectangle, inverted triangle and pear, and now I'll tell you what body shape you have.
Hourglass - If your shoulders and hips are the same size, and your waist is narrow and defined, then this is your body shape.
Apple - If you have a larger bust and narrow hips, then this is your body shape.
Rectangle - If your shoulders, hips and waist are the same size, then this is your body shape.
Inverted Triangle - If your shoulder are broad, while your waist and hips are narrow, then this is your body shape.
Pear - If your bust size is smaller than your hips' size, then this is your body shape.
Remember: ALL these body shapes are beautiful, and to value your body, on TikTok, Instagram and on other social medias, there are tutorials on what to wear and don't for your body shape.
But, if you're still not convinced that you ARE beautiful, I'll mention some beautiful, sexy celebrities who have the same body shape as you!
Hourglass - We have Nicki Minaj or Kim Kardashian, who's body shape is a very defined hourglass.
Apple - We have Adele or Queen Latifah, both beautiful with their apple body shape (even if Adele lost some of her weight).
Rectangle - We have Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman and Gwyneth Paltrow, all the three of them beautiful and confident about their rectangle body shape.
Inverted Triangle - For this body shape we have Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and Charlie Theron, who embrace their inverted-triangle-like body, valuing it with clothes that fit the body shape.
Pear - Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Rihanna have a beautiful pear body shape, which they show off and often value during their concerts, with outfits that fit a pear-like body.
I hope you're more confident about your amazing body, and I also hope you liked this post.
That's all I had to say for today.
Have a good day/afternoon/evening/night!
