International Women's Rights Day: A Day That Should Last Forever
Happy Women's Day!
Or rather, Happy women's rights day!
Today, in this beautiful day, we'll talk about this "holiday", what it is, when it was invented and why it's important.
So, shall we start?
«What Do We Celebrate On The 8th Of March?»
Well, everyone thinks that the 8th of March is a sort of holiday for women, like Christmas or Easter, when it ISN'T.
In fact, it isn't called "The Woman's Day", but it's called "The International Women's RIGHTS Day" because this day is made to promote these rights, which are declined in other places like Afghanistan, Iran etc., and to honour women who sacrificed themselves, in various feminist protests, for their rights.
The mimosa is this day's symbol because it represents women's strength, their sensitivity and their desire of freedom, which is not allowed in some countries yet.
So, today it's perfect to give your partner/mother/sister/aunt etc. a mimosa, to tell her how much you love and appreciate her!
«When Was This Day Introduced? And Why Is This Day So Important?»
Vladimir Lenin proclaimed the 8th of March as International Women's Rights Day in 1922 to honour the contribution of women in the 1917 Russian Revolution.
This date was then celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries. In 1977, the UN (United Nations) proclaimed it a mainstream, global holiday, that is still nowadays commemorated.
The Women's Rights Day it's important because it recognises the labour that women had (and still have) lived, their achievements and it raises gender equality's awareness, to introduce more rights in countries that give restricted freedom to women who live in there.
That's all I had to say.
Happy women's rights day!
Have a good day/afternoon/evening/night!
-Rose❤️
P.S. Sorry for such a short post! I'll soon apologise with a longer one!
