Feminism in Islam
Feminism in Islam
Feminism in Arabic countries is named “Islamic feminism”, where Muslim women/girls compare the Quran’s, or rather, the rules Muslim men induce them to their actual rights.
«What Do These Women Want To Achieve?»
Muslim feminists are those who have it harder than Western feminists in Islamic countries, some of their rights aren’t given to them.
They just want their freedom; freedom of speech, the right to a proper education. Things considered normal for us but not for them.
Here are some of their goals:
GENDER EQUALITY - Like all us, they want to be considered equal to the opposite gender, to have the same rights as them, to be able to talk or (in some cases) even look at them without getting physically hurt by their fathers/husbands.
REINTERPRETATION OF TEXTS - Muslim women want the Quran and other important religious texts to be rewritten, to give a respectful image to the woman since she’s considered inferior to the man’s figure represented in the text.
BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS - These women, as much human as men, want to be free. They want their liberty, their voice to mean something. In Afghanistan, women can’t look at men. They can’t speak to them. Therefore, they can’t get medically taken care of. In Iran women are forced to wear a hijab, if not a burqa. Women could get killed just for disobeying these insane “laws”.
Islamic feminism is not a tantrum. Islamic feminism is more than western feminism. They fight for their lives. They fight physically. They fight emotionally. They fight for real.
And, don’t get me wrong, I’m not discrediting our feminism. It’s important as well, obviously, but Islamic feminism is a war against law. Against a whole country. A whole religion.
This was all for today’s post.
Have a good day/afternoon/evening/night!
